OK, so I didn't watch yesterday's game because it wasn't on TV and was blacked out on ESPN3.com (or maybe I found a link online and watched Florida struggle with FURMAN for three quarters. I'll never tell, but if I did watch the game, let's just say I'd rather not talk about some of things I witnessed). Instead, I spent the time yesterday tweeting what I thought was happening during the game. I will now recap the game that played inside my head. If you weren't following me on Twitter yesterday, here's the link to all my tweets from the game. I suggest you read the tweets if you haven't so you know what the hell I'm talking about in this recap.
Florida 52 - Furman 14
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium
November 19, 2011
UF's Offense: It was an easy day for the Gators' offense. They hit eight plays of over 20 yards on their way to piling up 552 total yards of offense. In the second half, Charlie Weis let his son call the plays so he could go mingle with sorority girls. Charlie Jr. did a nice job even though the game was out of hand after the first half. Tyler Murphy got his first meaningful playing time of the year and looked good on his first two drives, both resulting in touchdowns. He finished the game 7/12 for 135 yards and a score through the air and ran the ball 5 times for 35 yards and a score.
UF's Defense: They forced three turnovers and Will Muschamp could not have been happier. In fact he was so overjoyed that after the game he grabbed a puppy and hugged it so hard he killed the poor little fella.
FU's Offense: Hahahaha, nice try, guys. Thanks for playing! LULZ.
FU's Defense: Apparently it was optional.
Player Of The Game: So many choices, but I've got to give it to my man Tyler Murphy for the third time this year. When he was finally given a chance he showed out. Good for you, man. I hope this was enough to keep him from transferring.
Quote Of The Game: "Aw, fuck it." -Lee Corso on live television. I know this isn't related to the Gator game, but it's college football related which is good enough. This was the quote of the day, perhaps, the quote of the season. There's nothing I could write that could top that and I'm not even going to try. This is now my favorite Gameday moment ever. I hope when they do another Corso tribute video they include that soundbite. It would be a crime if they didn't.
Notes: D.J. Durkin spent the night in the hospital to have his stab wound treated. He lost a lot of blood, but doctors say he'll make a full recovery. Durkin admitted that he deserved to be stabbed and that he needs to do a better job...Deonte Thompson dropped a would-be touchdown, but managed to redeem himself on the next drive by catching a pass for 3 yards. His only catch of the day...Did anyone else see the monkey juggling knives on Furman's sideline? That was pretty cool...Yesterday's attendance was well over 90,000 as it should be...Up next: FSU comes to The Swamp for a kindly old fashioned game of "Who Can Salvage Their Season With A Win?"
