Gators Tanking To Avoid Having Dick Vitale Call Game

In their past six games, the Gators have gone 3-3 during a crucial stretch to end the season. Billy Donovan admitted today that the team was tanking during this stretch to avoid having Dick Vitale call their ESPN televised game against Vanderbilt on Tuesday night. "We saw this game on our schedule and didn't want ESPN sending Vitale to call it, so we decided to play inconsistent, poor basketball in the games leading up to Tuesday in hopes of taking some of the luster off of it," said Donovan. "Nothing against Dick, he's a great guy, but he's just a little loud and obnoxious for our taste and I think the fans at home will appreciate our decision to play so erratic lately. You're welcome." Florida has managed to go the entire season without Vitale's boisterous calls blowing out their television speakers. However, in the absence of Vitale this season, Gator fans have had to endure the know-it-all-ism of Jimmy Dykes.
